Allan McGregor's Rangers Career Nearing End
Veteran Goalkeeper Faces Uncertain Future
Decision Expected This Summer
Rangers manager Michael Beale has hinted that veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor's illustrious Ibrox career may be nearing its conclusion. McGregor, 41, has been with the Scottish giants since 2018 and has been a crucial part of their recent success, winning two league titles and a Scottish Cup.
However, McGregor has not played much this season due to injury and the emergence of young goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin. Beale has suggested that McGregor may not be offered a new contract when his current deal expires this summer.
"Allan is a legend of this club and we owe him a great deal of respect," said Beale. "But we also have to make decisions that are in the best interests of the team moving forward."
Retirement from Scotland Also Announced
McGregor also recently announced his retirement from international duty with Scotland. The goalkeeper made 47 appearances for his country and was part of the squad that reached the 2021 European Championship.
"It's been an honor to represent my country," said McGregor. "But I feel that now is the right time to step aside and let some of the younger players come through."
