About Rachel Reeves
Rachel Reeves is a British politician who has served as the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer since 2021. She is a member of the Labour Party and has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds West since 2010.
Political Career
Reeves began her political career as a researcher for the Labour Party. She was elected as an MP in 2010 and has held a number of shadow cabinet positions, including Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary and Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
In 2021, she was appointed Shadow Chancellor by Labour leader Keir Starmer. As Shadow Chancellor, Reeves is responsible for developing Labour's economic policies and holding the government to account on economic issues.
Personal Life
Reeves was born in Lewisham, London. She studied economics at the University of Leeds and worked as an economist before entering politics.
Reeves is married and has two children.
