North Korea's ICBM Launch Raises Concerns in Japan

Test Missile Flies Over 472 Miles, Reaching High Altitude

Japan Issues Warning for Residents in Northern Regions

On Thursday, North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that covered a distance of 472 miles and reached an altitude of over 3728 miles. The launch triggered alarm bells in Japan, prompting the government to issue a warning for residents in the northern regions.

According to estimates, the missile traveled approximately 621 miles, significantly further than previous tests. It also reached a maximum altitude of over 3728 miles, indicating the missile's potential range to reach targets well beyond North Korea's immediate neighbors.

The launch drew condemnation from the international community, with many countries expressing concern over North Korea's continued missile development program. Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida described the launch as "a clear and grave threat" to Japan's safety and regional stability.

The launch came just hours before a meeting between US President Joe Biden and the leaders of South Korea and Japan in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The incident is likely to overshadow the discussions on regional security and economic cooperation.

North Korea's missile development program has been a source of tension with the international community for many years. The country has conducted several ICBM tests in recent months, raising concerns about its nuclear capabilities and the threat it poses to neighboring countries and the wider region.

The international community has repeatedly called on North Korea to abandon its nuclear and missile programs and engage in dialogue to resolve the issue peacefully. However, North Korea has rejected these calls and continues to pursue its military ambitions.
